Ned David McClintock, born July 14, 1934, passed away on Sunday, July 10. He was born in Berwick, Pa., to John and Florence (McAlister) McClintock. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. After graduating from Berwick High School, he attended Bloomsburg State Teachers College. He went on to teach for two years in Towanda, Pa. In 1958, he and his family relocated to Hughesville, where he taught at the George Ferrell School in Picture Rocks. While teaching, he attained a Master’s Degree in education Administration from Bucknell University. He became the principal for East Lycoming School District elementary schools in 1960, including the remaining one-room schools throughout the district. As principal, he oversaw the opening of the Carl G. Renn Elementary School in Lairdsville, consolidating five one-room schools in the Lairdsville and Unityville areas, and the Joseph C. Ashkar School in Hughesville. He retired from East Lycoming School District in 1979 to start a career with PP&L as district energy education coordinator. Ned moved to Lock Haven, as he became the district manager for PP&L in Lock Haven. While living in Lock Haven, he was active in the community as a member of the Lock Haven Rotary Club and serving on multiple boards including the Northern Central Bank Board, Board of Williamsport Area Community College, and Industrial Development Committee. He retired from PP&L in 1994, and moved back to Hughesville. Ned was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was an active member of the Consolidated Sportsmen of Muncy Creek, where he previously served as Club President, and belonged to the Red Pine Ridge Hunting Cabin. He was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church in Hughesville. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan (Dockey) McClintock; a son, Dayl and his wife, Patricia; daughter, Ruth Ann, and her husband, David Sprout, daughter, Pamela McClintock; a brother, Donald; four grandchildren, Kate (Ben) Meckbach, Matthew (Colleen) McClintock, Brian McClintock, and Austen Randecker; a step-grandson, Patrick (Katie) Sprout; two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Finley Meckbach; and two step-great-grandchildren, Henry and Molly Sprout. Ned was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Leota Patterson; and two brothers, Elmer and Robert. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 16 at 3:00 p.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church in Hughesville.
