M. Marie Stackhouse

November 26, 1922 - January 27, 2017

M. Marie Stackhouse, 94, of Strawbridge, died Friday, January 27, 2017, at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville. Born November 26, 1922 in Penn Township, Lycoming County, she was a daughter of the late Ezra and Mabel (Myers) McClintock. Her husband of 60 years, Leonard H. Stackhouse, preceded her in death on June 18, 2004. Marie was a lifelong member of Kedron United Methodist Church, where she served as church organist for many years, and enjoyed participating in Homemade Days. She and her husband took over the family store in Strawbridge, and continued to operate it from 1945 until 1965. Marie loved spending time with her family and friends, and cooking for the grandchildren. Surviving, are two daughters, Joan M. (Robert) Fox and Betty A. (Ross) Partington, both of Hughesville; a sister, Marguerite Narber of Dover; four grandchildren, Michael L. (Kelly) Fox, Michelle A. (Michael) Shannon, Erin J. (Bryan) Partington Buczek, and Adam J. (Elizabeth) Partington; five great-grandchildren, Devon, Michaella, Courtney, Liam, and Hunter; a great-great-granddaughter, Brynn Marie; and a step-great-grandson, Derek. In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by her Sister, Martha Jean Houseknecht. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 31 at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water Street, Hughesville, with Rev. GayAnn Gearhart officiating. Burial will follow in Muncy Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
