Louise Catherine Benditt

May 21, 1960 - June 18, 2018

Louise Catherine Benditt, 58, of Monroeton, died Tuesday, June 18, 2018, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. Born May 21, 1960 in Binghamton, NY, she was a daughter of the late Paul F. and Catherine L. (Shackleton) Thrasher. She and her husband, Kevin A. Benditt, celebrated 32 years of marriage on May 24, 2018. Louise was a graduate of Towanda High School, Class of 1978, and was employed at Masonite- Craftmaster for over 24 years. She was raised in a family of firefighters and carried on that tradition through her life as a dedicated lifelong member of the Monroe Hose Company. She served various positions in the company including secretary and treasurer for many years. Louise loved the fireman’s carnival and could be found making potato and funnel cakes every year, as she had for over 30 years. In 2003 she was awarded Fire Police of The Year, an award she was very proud of. Louise was also a member of the Monroe Borough Fireman’s Relief where she served as secretary and treasurer for many years. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three daughters, Carlinda M. Benditt, Catherine L. "Catie" Benditt, and Nicole J. Benditt, all of Monroeton; a son, Stephen P. Benditt of Monroeton; three sisters, MaryAnn (Terry) Hicks, Debbie Roth, and Brenda (Leo) Wills, all of Monroeton. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her son, Zamien E. Benditt. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter Street, Dushore, with Pastor A. Lee Modlin officiating. Burial will follow in Old Zion Cemetery, Dushore. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, June 25, at Granville Center Church of Christ, 5753 Rt. 514, Granville Summit. The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to Monroe Hose Company, P.O. Box 48, Monroeton, PA 18832 or Granville Center Church of Christ, c/o Deb Carle, 19321 Rt. 414, Monroeton, PA 18832. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.mccartythomas.com.
