LaRue S. Bay Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

LaRue S. Bay, 93, of Muncy, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Williamsport Home, with his loving family at his side. Born December 21, 1924 in Jersey Shore, he was the son of the late Melvin B. and Ruie E. (Green) Bay. His wife of 63 years, Beatrice R. “Beaty” Fry, preceded him in death on September 30, 2011. LaRue was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved reading and discussing current events. He had a sharp mind and witty sense of humor and loved to visit with family and friends, reminiscing about days gone by. He was beloved by his caregivers and doctors and will be remembered for his infectious smile and gentle way that could bring comfort and peace to anyone. LaRue retired from the former J&L Wire Rope, Muncy, as a quality inspector, a job he was very proud of. He was also very proud of his family farm, Locust Dale Farm. He and Beaty dedicated their entire adult lives to preserving and caring for their farm. LaRue was past president of the Pennsylvania Farmers Association of Lycoming County and enjoyed woodworking, refinishing, and building furniture. Surviving are four daughters, Linda M. (Kenneth) Ferry of Selinsgrove, Phyllis I. (Larry) Watson of Apalachin, NY, Donna L. (Bruce) Talisesky of Elysburg, and Jo Ann C. (David) Swartz of Muncy; two sons, David L. (Tami) Bay of Danvers, MA and Donald E. Bay of Montoursville; 10 grandchildren, Brian Watson, Jeremy Watson, Christopher Watson, Rebecca Bay, Matthew Bay, Michelle Downing, Ashley Zimmerman, Brandon Talisesky, Tierney Snyder, and Colt Snyder; and eight great-grandchildren, Nicholas Watson, Leah Watson, Elodie Watson, Tobias Watson, Margot Watson, Adalynn Watson, Zoey Zimmerman, and Carson Zimmerman. In addition to his wife and parents, LaRue was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy E. Bay. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water Street, Hughesville, with Rev. Max L. Walters Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
