Larry L. Ryder, Sr.

May 28, 1946 - September 14, 2015

Larry L. Ryder Sr., 69, of Hughesville, died Monday, September 14, 2015 at his home. Born March 28, 1946 in Eagles Mere, he was a son of the late Lem and Myrtle (Rine) Ryder. Larry served honorably in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was employed as a machine operator for Young Industries and Andritz for most of his life. Larry was a member of the American Legion Post 35, 40 et 8 Highland Lake Manor, and a 20 year member and past president of the Picture Rocks Fire Department. He also was the former mayor of Picture Rocks Borough. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming in his younger days. He is survived by two sons, Larry (Althea) Ryder Jr. of Picture Rocks, and Lynn L. (Kathy) Ryder of Montoursville; three sisters, June Schmouder of Liberty, Pearl Farrar of Picture Rocks, and Gloria Hunter of Sonestown; three brothers, Gary Ryder of Hughesville, Delbert Ryder of Muncy, and Doug Ryder of Hughesville; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday,September 17, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water Street, Hughesville. The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions be made to McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, PA 17737, to help defray the funeral expenses.
