Jeanne Louise McGregor

December 2, 1942 - October 13, 2019

Jeanne Louise Confer McGregor, beloved wife of Ron McGregor, Hughesville, died Oct. 13, 2019. She waited for her sons and families to come home to her, then passed peacefully at UPMC, Williamsport, surrounded by several members of her family. Born in 1942, Jeanne was a life-long resident of Hughesville. She graduated from Hughesville High School in 1960, then worked at Avco, now Textron Lycoming, for seven years, where she and Ron met. They celebrated 54 years of marriage this past March. Jeanne was a secretary and worked in the nurse's office at Ashkar Elementary School, Hughesville, for over 20 years. She often expressed her love for the children and her co-workers at the school. Jeanne was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hughesville, working in the kitchen on many occasions. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; the George A. Callenberger East Lycoming Bocce League (Picture Rocks), and the Six Chicks Card Club. In her younger years, she was very active in Hughesville Little League, along with her husband and sons. Jeanne loved traveling to see her grandchildren in Virginia and Ohio, playing cards, visiting with family and friends, the ocean and the Yankees. She especially enjoyed her good friends at the annual bread-baking gathering and always wrote a wonderful poem for the event. Jeanne was a truly amazing person. Her good humor and beautiful spirit blessed family and friends throughout her whole life. She endured the death of their eight-year-old son, Michael, crippling rheumatoid arthritis, two heart conditions and lung disease. She never complained and was fiercely independent, doing everything she could for as long as she could. When she finally needed a lot of help, she said, "I'm ok. Ron takes wonderful care of me." Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Matthew (Trish), of Prospect, Va., and Joseph, of Belleville, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Nicole Butler, Ohio; five grandchildren, Amanda (Zack) Pittard, Connor, Brody, A.J. and Chance; three sisters, Barb (Ron), of Las Vegas, Joan, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Shirley (Bill), of Muncy; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Michael Confer McGregor, in 1977, and her parents, Kenny and Murl Confer. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 S. Main St., Hughesville, with Rev. Cinda J. Brucker and Rev. Ronald G. Montgomery officiating. Friends may call from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church. Donations in Jeanne's name may be made to Trinity Evangelical Church, Hughesville. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.mccartythomas.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville.
