Ivan "Butch" M. Winder

December 27, 1937 - February 8, 2020

Ivan “Butch” M. Winder, 82, of Hughesville, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at UPMC Susquehanna. He was born on Monday, December 27, 1937 in Picture Rocks and was the son of the late Charles Lee and Nancy Vera (Montague) Winder. Butch married Shirley “Sis” Swales Winder on July 22, 1961 and shared 32 years of marriage before her passing on April 2, 1993. Butch then married Jean L. Shaylor on November 12, 1994 and shared 25 years of marriage. Butch served his country honorably in the US Air Force. In 1998, Butch retired from Muncy Homes after 18 years. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State fan. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, country music such as Johnny Cash and Elvis, and taking bus trips with his wife, Jean. Butch loved spending time with his family and cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed nature, picnics with his family, and desserts. Butch had a big sense of humor and never let a sarcastic moment pass. He was very proud of the achievements of his children and grandchildren and he would let everyone know it. He is survived by his wife; Jean L. (Shaylor) Winder, five daughters; Tami M. Winder of OK, Robin M. (David) Harman of Hughesville, Darla M. (Alan) Phillips of Halifax, Ellie M. (Mike) Stark of Muncy, Debra M. (Donald) Winder of Muncy, two step-daughters; Terri J. (Randall) Kio of New Columbia, Heather S. (Rusty) Wallis of Hughesville, two step-sons; Doyle C. Wallis of Williamsport, Duane R. (Kay) Wallis of Hughesville, 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, whom Butch and his first wife cared for, for a time; Samantha Swales Cole, Shirley Swales Oxford, Boyd “Leroy” Swales, and Jonathan Swales. Butch was predeceased by three brothers; John Byrton Dewitt "Bert”, Stanton Gradyn "Gigg" and by Charles LeMar "LeMar" Winder; and his first wife, Shirley “Sis” Swales Winder. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15 at Moreland Baptist Church, 118 Moreland Baptist Rd., Muncy, with Rev. James Winder and David Harman, CYM officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. at the church on Saturday.
