Ethel R. Marks, 80, of Hughesville, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at her home. Born August 25, 1938 in Nescopeck, she was a daughter of the late Hiram Issac and Martha Wilhemina (Lewis) Eisenhower. She and her husband, Ralph F. Marks, celebrated 58 years of marriage on July 1, 2018. Ethel was a graduate of Nescopeck High School, Class of 1956. Following graduate, she was employed by Prudential Insurance, Newark, New Jersey, and as a medical secretary before focusing on being a housewife and mother to her four children. She also worked alongside of her husband in their custom butcher shop for many years. In her younger years, Ethel was a dance instructor at the Arthur Murray dance studio in Newark, New Jersey. She loved quilting, painting, knitting, basket weaving and crafts. Ethel also loved baking and sewing and made several wedding dresses and cakes for family and friend’s. She was a very patriotic woman and was a member of the American Legion Post 35 Ladies Auxiliary and served as past president and treasurer for the VFW 4328 Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Deborah (Paul) Giannetto of Hughesville, and Beth (David) Pawlicki of Spring City; two sons, Kevin Marks of Amsterdam, NY and Fred (Mechelle) Marks of Hughesville; two sisters, Joyce Auten and Esther (Keith) Johnston; six grandchildren, Claire Mamo, Maliza Maldonaldo, John Giannetto, David Pawlicki, Blake Marks, and Kayla Marks; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Calvin, Ellsworth, and Gaylord Eisenhower; and two sisters, Viola Meng, and Phyllis Krist. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, December 14, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water Street, Hughesville, with Rev. Max L. Walters Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 13, at the funeral home.
