David F. Nelson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

David F. Nelson, 86, of Hughesville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at UPMC Williamsport. Born March 29, 1936, in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Rev. Forest and Rachel (Olson) Nelson. He and his wife Elizabeth Betty (Miller) were married on June 28, 1957 and shared 65 years of marriage. David was a life-long follower of Christ who demonstrated his faith through his kindness and decades of service to Rock Run, the church his father built. He was revered for the craftsmanship he honed working for Grumman and was the go-to expert for any project. When not working in his garden, David read voraciously, studied his Bible daily, and loved Grace Livingston Hill, Zane Grey, and the Left Behind series. David and Betty enjoyed canning, and their homemade ketchup was a delicacy. He loved jigsaw puzzles, and his fondness of board games - particularly Scrabble and Chess - was passed on to his family, as well as his heartfelt pride in his Swedish heritage. He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter Deborah Mock of Decaturville, TN and husband René; daughter Karen Tomasacci of Shickshinny and husband Randy; sister, Ann McMahon of Hughesville; and two grandsons: David Nelson Tomasacci of Columbus, OH and Lukas Tomasacci of Queens, NY. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, at McCarty Thomas Funeral Home, 557 East Water St. Hughesville with Rev. James W. Bechtel officiating.
