Carl R. Tallman

November 4, 1925 - April 11, 2019

Carl R. Tallman, 93, of Montoursville died Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Muncy Valley Hospital. Born November 4, 1925 in Montgomery, he was a son of the late Clyde H. and Mary H. (Plotts) Tallman. His wife of 46 years, the former Charlotte E. Leech, preceded him in death on March 19, 2003. Carl served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was a member of the American Legion Post 104, Montoursville. He was also a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Montoursville, and the Muncy Lodge #299 F. & A. M. Carl retired from Textron Lycoming on September 1, 1985, after having worked there for 32 years. He was a dedicated family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his free time Carl loved listening to Bluegrass music and strumming his banjo. Surviving are a daughter, Karla D. (Tom) Mears of Dushore; two sons, Craig R. Tallman of Montoursville, and Kevin D. (Cindy) Tallman of Cogan Station; a sister, Marion (Robert) Pardoe of Marlton, NJ; five grandchildren, Tiffini Allen, Cheyenne Manley, Angela Carneiro, Kara Hill, and Ryan Knapp; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to his wife and parents, Carl was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Kline, Rose Corson, and Dorothy Pendley; a brother, Robert Tallman; and his two cats, Wink and Angel. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water Street, Hughesville, with Rev. David B. Letschner officiating. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery with graveside military honors accorded by combined veteran’s organizations. Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where a Masonic funeral service will be held at 2:45 p.m. The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to LAPS at www.lapsshelter.org Expression of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.mccartythomas.com.
