Burton P. Manley, 68, of New Albany, died Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Highlands Care Center, Laporte. Born December 21, 1950 in Towanda, he was a son of the late Walter L. and Helen M. (McMahon) Manley. He and his wife, the former Sheila S. Rider, celebrated 47 years of marriage on September 25, 2018. Burton owned and operated Manley’s Garage and Towing, New Albany for over 30 years. He was a member of the Towanda Elks Club, the Monroeton Rod and Gun Club, and previously served on the New Albany Borough Council and as a past fire chief for the New Albany Vol. Fire Dept. Burton also enjoyed NASCAR Racing. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Nichole L. (Buddy) Pedro of Dushore; three sisters, Bonnie S. (Michael) Fox of New Albany, Joni M. (Brent) Raupers of The Villages, FL, and Dina E. (Neal) Gallagher of Tannersville; a brother, David Manley of New Albany; and a brother-in-law, Charles I. Kellogg of New Albany. In addition to his parents, Burton was preceded in death by three sisters-in-law, Reta Manley, Maxine Kellogg, and Shirley Rider; and a brother-in-law, Tom Rider. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, December 28, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter Street, Dushore. Burial will follow in St. Basil's Cemetery, Dushore. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 27, at the funeral home. The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to the New Albany Fire Dept., 75 Main St., New Albany, PA 18833.
